Take up the Swim Teacher’s burden
Send forth the best ye breed
Go send your tots to swim
For safety and take heed
To wait with card in hand
Excitement to the brim
Your screaming, crying offspring
Half devil and half child
Take up the Swim Teacher’s burden
In patience to abide
To veil exhaustion and frustration
And check the smile wide
By happy ins and happy outs
And splashing endlessly
To seek the satisfaction
Of awaited graduation
This was so cute, Ceili! I’m sure you’re a wonderful swim teacher!

This poem did a great job of showing both the positives and negatives of being a swim instructor. Great post!

I love your depiction of “Go send your tots to swim” as “half devil and half child” with the Swim Teacher’s burden.
