struggle bus pt. 1

Let’s just say that I am quite familiar with the struggle bus. Here are a few ways* that I struggle in everyday life:

Replying to Texts: This has become a serious issue. My friends will ask me questions, or ask to hang out, or tell me something, anything, and I will take anywhere from an hour to two days to respond. Do I look at whatever they send me? Yes. Do I have a response? Yes. Do I take the three seconds to respond? Absolutely not. And it drives everyone, including me, crazy. So if you really need to talk to me, you better call because I can’t text or snap anyone back to save my life. I look at it, respond in my head, and promptly forget. I deeply apologize if you have experienced this from me.

Being on Time: If you have ever had the pleasure of hanging out with me (haha), you have probably noticed that I am consistently late to things. Everything. Dances, movies, dinners, leaving for school in the morning, etc. You can however, depend on me being exactly five minutes late (almost always on the dot). The logical thing for me to do is to wake-up and start getting ready for things five minutes earlier so that I can leave five minutes earlier and then I can be on time for things. Have I figured out how to do that? You guessed it: no.

Doing Homework: This is a struggle for most everyone. For me, I work best at school, because when I’m at home all I can do it sit and stare at the wall with my computer open to an unnamed Google Doc. So when I procrastinate, it’s not exactly me being lazy or putting it off. It’s literally me not being able to do the homework because I get so brain-dead and distractible. It also doesn’t help that I live in a house with six other people who aren’t great at “inside voices”. I am not the kind of person to settle for missing assignments and late work though, so my nights become very late, very quickly. Yay for exhaustion, stress, and mental breakdowns.

Parking: I am a terrible parker. Since my first driving lesson. I have to repark 80% of the time and it makes my day when I can pull through a spot. My one accident has been because of my ability to park (well, unpark) and I have never successfully parallel parked. Whenever I drive with my parents, they make sure to remind me of my lack of skill with a chuckle and some comment about Ruby’s superior parking ability (she’s 15 with a permit). Maybe someday I’ll get the hang of it.

Seeing: I’m the only one in my family (other than my mom) who has to wear contacts/glasses all day everyday. When I don’t have them I’m pretty much blind. Love my life.

*I will add to this list in future posts because I really enjoyed this

  1. This was so funny, but I feel kind of bad for laughing. I believe that you can fix whatever it is that you want to fix from this list, but being 5 minutes late is not terrible. 🙂
